Job description:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Foreman/Operator to join our excavation team. As a Foreman, you will oversee day-to-day site operations, manage a crew of equipment operators and laborers, and ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in excavation and construction, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to jobsite safety.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervise all aspects of excavation projects, including trenching, grading, site preparation, and backfilling
  • Lead and manage a crew of equipment operators and laborers, assigning tasks and monitoring performance
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
  • Operate and maintain heavy machinery, including excavators, loaders, and bulldozers, as needed
  • Coordinate with project managers and engineers to meet project specifications and deadlines
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work quality and adherence to project plans
  • Resolve any on-site issues, including personnel management, equipment breakdowns, or unexpected challenges
  • Maintain accurate records of daily progress, equipment usage, and any safety incidents
  • Provide training and mentorship to new crew members

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in excavation or construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong understanding of excavation techniques, equipment, and safety procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and project specifications
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate a team
  • Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, and loaders
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and local regulatory requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and any relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid, CPR)
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training is a plus
